    Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: Good at scanning for viruses, trojans, and spyware. Also identifies vulnerabilities in software and gives a link to download necessary patches.

Weaknesses:HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! A bug has existed between Kaspersky and Firefox for several months; they have been told repeatedly, but simply let users tell other users how to get around the issue and make the program work regardless. The bug still exists, in other words. Also, they are VERY unfriendly and will refuse to help novice-to-average users (such as myself). When I politely complained about the service and noted my recent trouble, instead of telling me how to fix the most recent issue, I was told "Happy trails"!!! In other words, they told me to get lost!!! I had been very polite. If considering this product, check out the huge support forum first, and see how many people are complaining, and the usual response to the complaints (rudeness and blaming the consumer). BUYER BEWARE!!!

Overall Evaluation: Okay product; terrible customer support to the point of flat-out rudeness. (Incidentally, I had used Kaspersky for 2 years prior to this without incident).

    Duration of ownership: 2 Weeks

Strengths: 1. thorough scan and protection2. better compatibility3. small memory and cpu consumption

    Weaknesses:NONE

Overall Evaluation: I have been several internet security software: Norton, OneCare, McAfee, and Kaspersky of course. I can definitely feel that they are all getting better from old version to new version. Always, Kaspersky proved itself to me as the best in my mind.First criteria for internet security (or anti-virus) software is their ability to protect the computer. Kaspersky is the software that if it says the system is clean we all believe it's clean. Myself and my friends share this same conclusion. Meanwhile, Kaspersky does not pop up a window very often. I feel negative for what Norton and OneCare is doing everyday -- popping up alert windows, behaving just like a malware.second criteria is the compatibility. we give the highest security control to them. if they don't get along with our system well, we are screwed. Norton 2009 always took my computer 50% CPU time (mine is duo-core). OneCare freezes twice on my computer. I know that OneCare and Vista are both from Microsoft. It seems that they fight as brothers in a family. McAfee is quiet most of the time. Kaspersky has never give me a problem or altitude. Kaspersky 2009 also made improvement in its booting time. This used to be its biggest drawback. We evidenced its progress all these years. Now I am pretty satisfied with its 2009 version. From above, Kaspersky is my favorite internet security software

    Duration of ownership: 5 Days

Strengths: low system occupancy, easy setup, simple user interface, easy upgrade if you have older version, good online customer service

Weaknesses:annoy notification window, update takes relatively long time for slow server, no comprehensive guide in box

Overall Evaluation: As background, I have used a lot of antivirus and internet security suite from Norton, Kaspersky, McAfee, PC-cillin, Iolo, Webroot, Windows OneCare, BitDefender, etc. The Kaspersky series always take minimum memory resource, and the IS2009 follows this rule perfectly, it took as little memory as the new Norton IS2009. It runs quietly in background and you can rarely find its existence. The new Kaspersky IS2009, unlike its previous version, provide a much better automatic mode in which you don't need to configure or program it and let itself to determine the internet connection and application filtering. It's simplified and will not ask you so many detailed questions which was quite annoying. At the same time, it still provide the manual mode for those who always like everything customized by themselves. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 also works very well on Vista 64-bit edition. It can also help you to check whether your softwares are up-to-date, which is very interesting and useful design. At last, the 3-user edition is really a budget for multiple family users no matter what windows system they are using.

Strengths: Fast, smart, doesn't use many resources

    Weaknesses:None

Overall Evaluation: I have been using Kaspersky products for some time. I have always found their products to be good. This one is no exception. It is a complete package. I have used free AVG and I like this program better. It seems to be smarter about which processes are ok instead of asking about every single process. It also doesn't hog up resources like some other products do.
