    Duration of ownership: 5 Days

Strengths: UNSURE CUZ IT WON'T INSTALL

Weaknesses:WAY TOO LONG TO INSTALL AND YOU HAVE TO REMOVE WAY TOO MANY PROGRAMS

Overall Evaluation: "easy to install"!!! NOT!!!! Norton products used to work fine, but i've experienced nothing but trouble lately. Last year's Norton 360 fiasco and now NAV2009. NAV2009 does not install easy. maybe it does on a new computer with nothing else loaded. I've been chatting with Symantec tech support for over 4 hours on two separate occaisions. They had access to my computer and still can't install NAV2009. IMHO, if you have a norton virus program running now, just pay for the subscription to be extended. I wouldn't upgrade unless you want to lose use of your computer and spare time.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Found a virus that a few other fully updated freeware scanners did not detect at all.

Weaknesses:You'll want to download there latest version from the website. Then just use the serial number from the software shipped to install it.

Overall Evaluation: I've used many different brands of anti virus software, and always return to Norton AV because I believe it to be the best. This product was ordered and shipped to me within one week.

Strengths: No problems upgrading from Norton AntiVirus 2008.

    Weaknesses:None So Far

Overall Evaluation: User interface on 2009 is completely different. I completely removed my Norton AntiVirus 2008 software BEFORE installing Norton AntiVirus 2009 on both my Desktop PC (Windows XP) and laptop PC (Windows Vista). The installation on both operating systems was successful. The features I was used to in the earlier versions are still available in 2009, you just have to look around in different places on the main menu to find them.Same as last year, the spyware protection included in Norton AntiVirus 2009 is most appreciated.I would have preferred keeping my old 2008 version for a second year, but the second year of Norton AntiVirus protection is so expensive, I found it cheaper to buy the new 2009 version for $49.99 from Fry's and submit two $20 rebates. Net cost for another year of protection = $9.99 plus tax.

Strengths: very nice product & does not take much cpu

    Weaknesses:none

Overall Evaluation: i did use 2008 version and I am very happy..2009 version is same with good updates and we get lot of alerts..It automatically cut off Windows Defender which some people may find annoying. It uses very little of system resources and has a graph on the interface you can use to monitor the resources. It scans incoming email.Additionally it allows the scans to be run in the background - in this case the scan will only run when the computer is idle. Which means you can carry on with your work and let the scan do its job when you are not doing anything - obviously it increases the time required to complete the scan but none the less I find it is a useful option
